Sugar Cravings – How you can fight them!
If you’ve ever had a hankering for a sugary sweet, then you know just how powerful these cravings can be.
When you’re on a weight loss journey if you’re eating according to the correct intake needs of your body you shouldn’t be on aggressively low calories. As you progress through your weight loss journey and complete your ultimate body transformation you need to be in a calorie deficit to lose body fat.
This means that you need to be expending more energy than you’re consuming. During this phase, it is normal to feel a little hungry as you are eating less food.
Through this transformation, you may face certain struggles like wanting to eat more than your plan and having food cravings.

Here at JRF, we have put together some tips and tricks to help you satisfy those sugar cravings and still keep within your calorie allowance.
Keep up your water intake.
Your body can confuse dehydration with wanting to eat! To make sure you are consuming enough water use this calculation: weight (kg) x 0.03 = Litres of H2O
Have a coffee or tea.
They work as a great suppressant and can help curb those cravings without adding in a full snack into the day. For extra sweetness add Stevia!
Consume sugar-free beverages.
Options like Sprite No Sugar, Diet Coke, low sugar iced teas can help hit that sugar craving without affecting your calories.
Chewing gum.
This can help give you something sweet to chew on without the added calories.
Distract yourself.
Often these cravings tend to go away by themselves. Wait 10 minutes and change your environment. Go outside for a quick walk, or get into a good book, people often find a little distraction is all they need to curb their cravings.
Other things to consider are your macronutrients. It’s important to stick as closely as you can to your proteins and fats as they are crucial to kicking a sugar habit and reducing those cravings. Fat and protein intake provides a steady and consistent form of energy. When we eat a balanced diet and feel energized, we are less likely to crave sugar.
We hope these tips will make it easier for you to kick your sugar cravings to the curb and stay on track to smash your goals.
